Department of Pediatric dentistry deals with the diagnosis and treatment of oral and dental diseases from infancy through adolescence and also application preventive treatments.
During the pediatric training, students are provided with both theoretical and clinical training on behavioral guidance in children, caries preventive treatments, restorative dental treatments, canal treatments in deciduous and permanent teeth, managing dental trauma, preventive and interceptive orthodontic treatments, and prosthetic treatments in children. Students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade throughout their undergraduate education are equipped with current knowledge to treat pediatric patients with the theoretical lectures and clinical practice trainings. Also, the treatment of children with dental anxiety and requiring special care is performed under general anesthesia or sedation with the anesthesiologist.
